Crystalline Silica

Safe Environments is Australia's only accredited Type A inspection body accredited to ISO 17020 to assess compliance with workplace exposure standards. We have a dedicated occupational hygiene laboratory accredited to ISO 17025 which can analyse respirable dust and crystalline silica using both FTIR and XRD.

What is Crystalline Silica?

Respirable crystalline silica is a naturally occurring material that when small particles are liberated into the air, they become an inhalation health hazard. When these particles enter the lungs, they can cause scarring and permanently damage the lungs over time and affect quality of life. The risk may not be eliminated however It can be managed so that it does not affect the quality of life.
